Capital City Youth Ballet Company

Mission Statement

Capital City Youth Ballet is a company open to pre-professional dancers who are 12 - 18 years old. As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization we strive to:

  • Provide a training ground for pre-professional students who wish to pursue a career in dance.
  • Provide a performance in a theatre setting distinct from school recitals or exhibitions.
  • Serve as a source from which professional companies and colleges might select dancers.
  • Provide educational dance programs in the community to encourage the young to explore and enjoy dance.
  • Collaborate with community artists and support community events.

Winter Show

"The Fairy Doll" performed along with  other classical and original choreography. Winter Show date is Friday February 7, 2019 at 7:30 pm at the Nampa Civic Center.

Father Daughter Masquerade Ball

This is an annual benefit for CCYB. A fun event open to fathers and their daughters and held in early November. This year's Masquerade will be on Friday November 2, 2018 from 7-9 pm with a complimentary dance lesson from 6:30-7 pm held at the Cathedral of the Rockies downtown.

Capital City Youth Ballet demands high standards of dance education, presentation, commitment, and by professional conduct within the ballet company structure. Weekly rehearsals, annual concerts, and community appearances allow our dancers the opportunity for growth and new experiences appropriate to the dancer's age and skill level.

Auditions to perform alongside the youth company members held each September for dancers, 10 years old and up, who are taking ballet classes a minimum of two times a week.

Auditions for next season's company members held in the Spring.

CCYB has performed with Timberline Orchestra, with local musicians in the Cathedral Concert Series, and with ELRO from Idaho Arts Charter School. The company has collaborated on a movement study in photography by Rick Ohnsman (featured photo above), and has performed for and taught children about ballet at the Boise and Caldwell libraries.

If you have a collaborative project you'd like to discuss please contact Melissa Strader.
