Masquerade Ball
Father-Daughter Masquerade Ball FAQs
Where and when is the masquerade? The masquerade will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Cathedral of the Rockies (First United Methodist Church). This church is located at the corner of 11th and Hays Streets in downtown Boise. You may attend a complimentary dance lesson from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by the masquerade from 7-9 p.m.
Who is sponsoring the dance? The ball is being sponsored by the Capital City Youth Ballet, and proceeds benefit this local nonprofit organization. For more info on CCYB, see below.
Who can attend? The Masquerade is most suited to girls ages 5 and up and their dads. It’s fine for a grandfather or uncle to fill in for dad. Fathers can bring more than one daughter, but one ticket is needed for each person.
What is the cost of attending the dance? Tickets are two for $25 (one each for dad and daughter), and additional young ladies’ tickets are $10. Space is limited; please order early. Ticket price includes light refreshments and a complimentary dance lesson.
What are the optional expenses? These items require preorder with ticket purchase: 1. A wrist corsage ($5) and/or boutonniere ($3) will be available for pickup at the dance. A single carnation will be the basis of either arrangement. 2. A 4″ x 6″ photo, $5. The digital pictures will be taken during the evening and the CD of your photos will be available for pickup by the end of the evening.
How can I order tickets? Please send your ticket money, as well as costs for any desired optional expenses, to the address listed below. Your check should be payable to CCYB. Please enclose a self addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). Include the names of those who will attend the masquerade, as well as a phone number in case we need to contact you. Send to: CCYB, c/o Melissa Strader 8639 West Galactic Court Boise ID 83709.
Raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold at the dance for $1 each; proceeds benefit the Capital City Youth Ballet. Winners can claim their prizes at the end of the evening.
What is “semiformal attire?” The suggested attire for this dance is semiformal, which means suits for gentlemen and nice dresses for the young ladies. Formal tuxedos and evening dresses are fine, if that’s what you prefer! This year’s theme is “With a touch of red” and everyone is encouraged to be creative with how to add a splash of red to your wardrobe.
What if I can’t dance? Plan to come at 6:30 and attend the complimentary dance lesson.
If it’s a masquerade, do guests need to wear a mask? Guests are encouraged but not required to wear a mask. It could be fun to wear masks that have been decorated lavishly at home! If you need ideas on decorating a mask, there are many books and websites on this topic. Fun materials for making masks can include craft foam, paper mache, cardboard, or a plastic base mask. If you prefer to purchase a predecorated mask, The Costume Shop in Garden City carries a wide variety. A very limited number of plain masks will be available for purchase on the night of the dance for $1 each.
What is Capital City Youth Ballet? Capital City Youth Ballet is a non-profit ballet company dedicated to…
- Providing a training ground for pre-professional students who wish to pursue a career in dance.
- Providing performance experiences in a theatre setting distinct from school recitals or exhibitions.
- Serving as a source from which professional companies may select dancers.
- Providing educational dance programs for local school districts to encourage the young to explore dance as an art, recreation or career.
- Collaborating with community artists and supporting community events by appearance and assistance.
Capital City Youth Ballet strives to achieve these goals by demanding high standards of dance education and presentation, and by professional conduct within the dance company structure. We appreciate the support and encouragement from the community for fundraisers like the masquerade which make this ballet company a vibrant part of Boise’s dance community.
What is the next performance for CCYB? We are currently in production for a new ballet based on Fredrick Ashton’s, “The Tales of Beatrix Potter.” It will be presented on Saturday, Fefruary 5, 2011 during CCYB’s Winter Show. A Sneak Peek at a few pieces from this year’s Winter Show is one of the benefits of attending the masquerade!
Thank you for supporting Capital City Youth Ballet!
